Job Title:        Product Engineer

Reports To:    Global R&D Director

Location:        RTP Area, North Carolina

Summary:  Product Engineer will provide support to the Product Engineering department and Manufacturing Engineers for all global manufacturing projects and locations.  Will plan, execute, and finalize cable designs according to deadlines and set budget for all ABS/TFC global manufacturing locations as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required. 

  • Help coordinate Engineering department to create and maintain a detailed project schedule which includes all project phases detail plans, designs, material procurements, test data and all other required details associated with the project.
  • Design Power / RF cables as per customer requirements and needs and provide costs, prototypes as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain costing for different ABS/TFC products at all ABS/TFC manufacturing locations.
  • Create different buying scenarios for ABS/TFC products and provide costing analysis to management.
  • Develop new test procedures as needed for internal and customer testing needs.
  • Support Engineering Technicians activities where needed as back up for specific tasks, as required.
  • Correspond with multiple ABS/TFC facilities to collect information about the different projects and provide support to cross-functional teams as required.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and higher management ?in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Any other Engineering job functions as required that may be required to support existing and new products.
  • Visit Chatham, VA location as required per project and help manufacturing engineering for prototypes and samples.
  • Validate and test products/ prototypes at satellite location or at VA manufacturing plant as needed.

  • B.S in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing)
  • 3-5 years of experience in wire and Cable Manufacturing industry preferred
  • Strong knowledge in wire and cable designs / manufacturing, RF is a plus
  • Strong Computer, Communication, Planning and Analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel if required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office; Good knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidworks Preferred) AutoCAD, Microsoft Project.
