Job Title - Accountant
Reports to - Accounting Manager
Location - Downers Grove, IL
Classification - Salaried; Exempt
Job Purpose
To provide daily coverage in all phases of General Accounting including, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Corporate reporting and internal control.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures that accounting data is classified, recorded, reported and analyzed accurately and timely per GAAP requirements.
General Ledger:
- Month end close and associated analysis (Variances, margin, productivity, etc)
- Freight and Tariff accounting and Analysis.
- Account Reconciliations.
- Entering monthly journal entries.
- Internal business driven reporting/operations review package preparation.
- Work closely with Mexico production facility and sister divisions on inventory and intercompany transactions.
Corporate Reporting:
- Monthly/Quarterly BPC actual reporting.
- Prints daily report for management, updates forecast on portal, backlog analysis, hard close, balance sheet review.
- Provides back-up to other department activities.
- RMA, Credit Card Charges.
- Participate Performs other related duties as assigned.
Internal Control Processes:
- Closely follow all corporate accounting policy updates
- Participate in Corporate internal audit and annual physical inventory
- Semiannual corporate hard close and all related testing
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance from a four-year college/university.
- Two (2) to Four (4) years of related experience and/or training. Manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop, web browsers, accounting software, etc. Macola ERP is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work without supervision consistently performing duties to company standards.
- Accuracy, strong analytical and time management skills; ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
Working Conditions
Occasional travel is required based on company needs.
Be open to occasional evening /weekends work, especially during the month end close.
